Mount Mitchell Massif, Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge

Mount Mitchell Massif, Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge

On the horizon is Mount Mitchell Massif (2145 feet, unofficial name), a collection of unnamed peaks in the more remote section of Charon's Garden Wilderness, OK. Of the six 2000 foot+ summits that are in the wilderness, Mt. Mitchell Massif is the the only one that is officially unnamed. There are five major points on the massif itself, along with two lesser summits (Pt. 1928 and Pt. 1860). Imaged in Apr 2011.

Up for adoption.

Mark, Mount Mitchell is currently up for adoption, as is Granite Mountain. If you climbed either of them, I would pick them up, I know you would do excellent pages for both.

Re: Up for adoption.

I saw that. But, I haven't climbed either. May need to go do that just so I can take over the page. Yesterday I went down just to replace some pic's of the mountains we lost on the WMWR page. --mark d.

Re: Up for adoption.

I hope you do. It needs a good page. The page for Granite Mountain is also up for adoption. I picked up the one for Twin Rocks, having climbed it on several occasions. Man, I wish I could get back there. I really miss the Wichitas.

Re: Up for adoption.

A friend of mine lives a 15 minute drive away. I'd be there almost everyday if I lived 15 minutes away! --mark d.
