Very cool.

It seems I missed something other than Santorini when I was in Greece. I'll have to climb this when I go back now! Looks like a good one.

Re: Very cool.

I stopped by Santorini on the way. I started hiking on it's highest peak Profitis Ilias until I saw a big sign saying something about "Warning: Military Radar Causes Uncontrollable Bursts Of Cancerous Radiation". That turned me around in a hurry.

Good Trip Report

Great presentation, I really enjoyed reading this. I like the way you linked to the relevant pictures, that always makes these trip reports more engrossing.

Cool!

Nice report! I think I could maybe do that peak! I have no real desire to go more than Class 4.

Re: Cool!

I feel the same way. I'm not a rock climber nor am I ashamed to admit it.

Re: Holy Cow!

Hilly is right. The ranges south of Olympus were a sight for sore eyes. Thanks.

Re: Holy Cow!

Try the Pindos range for "hilly" in Greece!
Unfortunately, the information about it here on SP is a bit scarce, even if there is a page about it, but there's the great Vikos Gorge and massive vertical walls near Papingo, to name a few of the sights.

Re: The best

I appreciate that. When I was doing my research, I was surprised by the lack of detailed information out there.

Re: The best

I am sure there is, but as always in Europe, in the native language (greek in this case). And I guess the greek alphabet doesn't ease more the search...

Better than my trip

Great report. Good thing you went for it while the weather was clear. When I climbed Olympus in Oct. 1996 it was sunny in town but the mountain was in a whiteout. I ascended from the back side of the peak and down climbed the standard route in the rain! Pretty exciting stuff.

Re: Better than my trip

So it can be done then. Sounds a bit nasty though. I see you live only a few miles from me. Welcome to Summit Post!
