I think I have something like 140 peaks climbed on a list of about 400 that's still growing. :)
Mt. Tom is near the very top of the "reasonable goals to climb before I'm too damned old for this stuff". Every time I drive through Bishop to Mammoth I stare at it. So I have to climb it just to reduce my risk of an accident on 395. :)
Nice aerial shots! I would like better if in the "hero" photo Mt Tom appears higher than other mountains... It is not a small mountain, but some shots give such an impression.
Thanks for the offer. I found it listed at Amazon, so I'll try to buy it first. I'm a bad book borrower - I seem to lose them or wear them out before I get a chance to return them. =)
One of the most awe-inspiring times of my life was driving my wife and daughter up the 395 on the way to Yosemite. Mt. Tom is incredible. I remember looking in my rear view mirror back at my sister and brother-in-law in the car directly behind us gasping and pointing at the mountain.
Thanks for checking out the page. As a stand-alone peak, Mt. Tom has wonderful views. Good luck on your September trip. Maybe think about posting a trip report. What route do you intend to take?

Untitled CommentShooting for early Sept. 2005. 3 of us so far. Best Mt. Tom page on the Network, ...in my humble opinion. Great job! Nice site too.
