| Gate was open, drove right up to Tower #20. There were 3 communications company trucks parked there and workers in one of the nearby buildings. 1pm in the afternoon. | ||

| Just a quick excursion to grab another county hp. A little hazy, I might return on a super clear day as I think the views could be spectacular | ||

| sfpcservice | The road is public! ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 20, 2011 | |
| The info about a "prescriptive easement" needs to be corrected. The road across the top of Mt. Vaca is Blue Ridge Road (County RD. 354) Between Mix Canyon Rd. and Gates Canyon Rd. According to the county surveyors office, the road is not maintained by the county, it is maintained by the land owners on Mt. Vaca. But, there is a public easement on this road making it county road 354. The county surveyor stated the red "no trespassing" signs at the gate are unenforceable because of this easement which was recorded in 1894. Also, the gates are placed by the fire department and only closed when fire danger is extreme. I have a PDF of the county maps and of the easement if anyone wants them, send me a message. The property on either side of the road is private however, so those signs are enforceable. | ||

| CWessels | A Worthwhile Diversion ![]() Date Climbed: Mar 20, 2010 | |
| Biked to the top from the gate. Simple as can be. Not much of a challenge, but more worth the detour than I expected it to be. City lights below do dazzle after dark, and the power lines play like aeolian harps. | ||

| Dean | Early morning ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 21, 2008 | |
| Did Mt. St. Helena on the 20th and it seemed appropriate to stay in Vacaville for this one. Early morning expedition got me the summit and then we headed for Copernicus for number two. | ||

| Dundeel | Snow Day ![]() Date Climbed: Feb 13, 2009 | |
| Mix Canyon gate was closed. Made a quick walk in a blowing snow shower. The view was limited to about 300 feet. This was my second cohp for the day. Carpenter Hill in Sacramento was first. | ||

| edevart | Walked up from open gate. ![]() Date Climbed: Dec 30, 2008 | |
| Surprising views. The entire snowtopped Sierra from Mt Lassen in the north down to Yosemite was in view, with the Central Valley and the SF Bay area hidden below in fog. Really nice for basically a drive up peak. Great views. | ||

| McCannster | 13th CA county highpoint ![]() Date Climbed: Apr 1, 2007 | |
| Thought I'd tick this one off my county highpoint list, so I made a side trip on my way back from Grass Valley. Gate was closed, so I jogged to the summit in 15 minutes. Clear views all the way across the valley, which was nice. Came back to the car to discover that the gate was not locked, just closed. That could have saved me a bit of time if I had drove, but it was nice to stretch my legs. | ||

| Michael Perry | Very nice quiet hike ![]() Date Climbed: Oct 29, 2006 | |
| Made the drive to Vacaville to bag my second cohp. The gate on Mix Canyon was closed. Saw a few people heading up the trail, but they didn't seem to mind us. Walked around the whole fence around the peak before finding the USGS marker, thinking the highest point were the boulders on the western edge of the fence, overlooking Lake Curry. Even though it was hazy, I could see Mt Diablo, St. Helena, and faintly see Tamalpais and Downtown Sacramento. | ||
