Re: Great!

Thanks Christoph! I gave you the Steinberge Group - I might even have some pictures though I don't know where they are from - they are from my girlfriend's sister

Tough job!

Now this SPv2 is a tough job! Sorry old pal, but I see I'm the only one who rated this page less than 10/10. It's excellent, yes, but I'd like to stick, at least in the beginning, with the definitions, given under i. Same story with pictures. They're great, but had to distinguish among them and rated them from 5/10 to 9/10. And the worst of all, decided to apply the same criteria to old votes - which inevitably meant I had to downvote them. I still have to learn how to live with that, but for now I think it's a fair start. Yes, the new stuff will hardly reach the grades of old one, or there'll be an inflation of grades again.

Re: Tough job!

There's nothing new about your picture votes, Vid - you have always been critical. I'm not sure how the page vote thing will work out. Right now there is no link between comment and vote. Also, there is no comment: please point out the deficiencies. That said - could you point them out to me? I know I'm being nasty but that's the way it goes - or will go. Which is why in the end everyone will post 10 points again.

Anyway - I guess you have a gut feeling that the page is not worth 10 points and that's enough for me. Going through all your votes will be tough - on you and on the people you voted. You'll be in for a rocky ride...

I won't do it because I think that would be unfair as well - downvote one page but forget another one? Not good in my book.

Yes, you're right!

I can't imagine how to go through all my previous votes, so I won't do that systematically. And if so, it's unfair towards the votes which will stay. Right. So when I see stuff, I'll look also my actual vote and reconsider it. That's all I can do. On the other hand this new system will probably bring a greater quantity of votes and Josh's formula, I think, counts that too. So, perhaps also new suff will have an opportunity. Being an elf yourself, you might see some (or study many) of my picture votes. I could be wrong on some, too critical and also too generous. But generally I don't feel guilty towards any member so far. But we are all human, so everybody makes mistakes.

Deficiencies on your Cimon della Pala page are hard to poit out. That's what 8/10 means to me. Of course you could add also some more interesting readings about various aspects of the mountain. How valuable it is for hard climbs, what does it mean in the history of alpinism, where do passes lead, how close marked and other easy paths come, etc. I can't think of all, yes, it was more my gut feeling than an analytic reasoning why 8/10 and not 10/10. And finally - would you offer somebody else to take over the page, if it was already perfect? No need for that.

Good example of a page

A cool mountain. I enjoyed your text rendering of "eine Deutsch" accent. At least I didn't vote e^(pi*i)

Thanks Marc - where was the accent? I missed it :-(

First Vote

A worthy page for my first V2 mountain vote. Now you might have to field some questions about how you did it all. Ah, but I see View / Source is now working. Well, great work, Gangolf.

Re: First Vote

No problem about the html - just "view source" :-) I'm not sure about the thumb tables though. I do things like that on group pages but here it's a little too much imo. But I would bet that we'll get the thumb attachment back - I already promised to Josh that he had to do this. We'll see...

View Source

There is something weird going on with "View / Source". It mostly doesn't work, but it did just before when I looked at your page. Now it's not again. Click "View / Source" and nothing happens. Other people have mentioned it in site feedback. It'll get resolved one of these days...

Re: View Source

With Mozilla and Firefox it works. In IE I get an error but that is due to the fact that my copy of Ultraedit is somehow broken. Better take an old version I guess...

Fine page

was really missing here ...
only one thing still missing : a small routes overview just to better define the kind of mountain one can find :)

Re: photo

Now it works. There was an old name: v2.summitpost.org. I wrote the page when we tested version 2 of summitpost.

Thanks for finding the error!
