Must be windy...

Beautiful catch! I wouldn't like to be around the summit at that time. The wind might blow off any person... Such a thing happened on catastrophic day for forests of High Tatras. That wind blew off a pair of czech climbers, one did not survive...

Re: Must be windy...

Tomas you are correct, Sorry to hear about the catastrophy in the High Tatras. It was very windy yesterday on Hood. Even at 7,000 ft the winds were over 60 mph.

Thanks for your comments. I hope you have been getting out there this winter.

Cheers and peace

Re: Must be windy...

I was in Tatras in october and I will go to Tatras 2 another times this winter. I hope to achieve some advance in both my mountaineering abilities and achieved ascents.

The windbreak in High Tatras I wrote about happened on 19th november 2004. 12000 - 15000 hectares of forest laid down then.

You gimme a peace, thanks! Cheers Tomas :)

Re: good pik

There is a trail, beyond the Cooper Spur Ski area that takes you up to Tilly Jane Campground. Trail #643. It's about a 3 to 4 hr. hike with snow shoes and backpack. There are also a few all season wood cabins up there.
