Mt. Whitney

Mt. Whitney

Mt. Whitney 10/29/2014 Apparently this image has offended, angered and down right antagonized many people who've viewed it. I've received quite a few Emails pointing out the errors of my ways. So let me be clear, this is an artistic interpretation of one of Natures incredible creations. A geological wonder, one I've experienced on countless occasions in all kinds of conditions. This is a composite of two image from two different views both shot on the same day; then I dodged some areas to direct the viewers eye. It tries to convey from an Artists point of view the beauty and majesty of this place. For those who are offended, just try and enjoy the beauty.

Man! You nailed it!

Best pic of Whitney from the Alabama Hills I've seen yet!
Thanks for posting all your other fine shots too.

Re: Looks like...

I haven't been to this site in some time. So I shot this in such a way as to add as much drama as I could, this area and Mt. Whitney in particular have for me, a lot of personal history and then some. I could go on for some time. With some of the lighting, I dodged and burned to direct the eye as dramatically as I could. I wanted to guide the viewer toward what I call Thor's lair. I wanted to evoke an emotional response to this incredible masterpiece of Nature.

Ars longa, grandis Whitney.

I love the area around Mt. Whitney, but this perspective is impossible - you have combined multiple images. It's beautiful anyway, just not an accurate depiction.
