Muir Woods National Monument New Growths from Ancient Redwood

According to explanatory material, this is an example of where an old growth Redwood Tree burned (see the burned portion inside)and then new sprouts grew up around it from the old root network of the burned tree. The "new sprouts" are now full grown trees. Picture taken April 18, 2013.
