Thamel ??

The district in Kathmandu?

Do you mean Thamo or Thame perhaps?

Or is this another Thamel?

Could certainly be the Thame (or Thame Og to give it its proper name) that I know at the junction of the Thengpo and Bhote Kosi valleys.

Mountain?

Call me odd an all that but I'm more into mountains than flowers. Any idea what the mountain is in the background please?

Re: Mountain?

if klwagar confirms that she means Thamo or Thame and not Thamel, it's likely Teng Kangpoche. See this photo - about 5 miles due west of Namche Bazaar

Re: Mountain?

It is Thame - I was given the name Thamel when I had to go to the monastary on the hill. A friend's father had spent many years with the people in this area and had passed away. I was to give some things to the monks. Since I was told this name, I always thought it was called that, a Sherpa guide seemed to know where it was so I thought had confirmed it. I thought it was a local variation from the name on the map.It was an incredible experience to travel to the monastry and met with the monks. The mountain, I believe is Teng Kangboche,(or please correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Mountain?

I think flowers and mountains are integral to one another as well as all the other bits and pieces - animals, local people etc. But mountains have special significance in different ways to each of us. I think the mountain is Teng Kangboche (but not sure). There was a party attempting it while we were there. It would have been an incredible climb.

Re: Nice Picture.

Thanks - capers are naturtium seeds. Now I'm thinking that they probably aren't wild either. Ooops.

Great photo of

rich colored flowers, a rock wall and snow-covered peaks in the background make this an exceptional capture.
Thank you for the vision.
