Great desert symmetry! Seems like
this would be a great spot to view
rattlesnakes. That's why you went
in December, right?

Re: Another pyramid ?We have encountered some rattlesnakes near the lake during the last few years. The scariest encounter was during one of our nightime hike to hot springs. It took a while to spot the snake with our headlamps after we heard it rattle. Have a nice holiday season, Anya.

referring to? The lake is Mead; but
where are the hot springs? That's okay!

As for the snakes they are Mojave and Panamint species. The most known hot springs are in Gold Strike Canyon and so called Arizona Hot Springs near White Rock Canyon and Colorado River. If you ever happen to be in the Hoover Dam area they are worth hiking to. I believe that LMNRA visitor center rangers are aware of both of these routes.
There are also some other canyons with running warm springs that are undeveloped and overgrown with tamarisks. Cheers, Anya.
