Yes, it's as tough as they say. Did you happen to see Mars Bonfire's "13x" (or maybe it's more by now)? O.K. Now you have to up the ante: the San Antonio Ridge next and then the North Ridge.
Thanks. Yes, it was tough, certainly the toughest I've done in recent years. But I feel great knowing I was standing on top of Big Iron. You're right, the San Antonio Ridge was very tempting looking...it's certainly on my radar. I am just a little worried about the climbing portions. I have not seen Mars Bonfire's 13x; it's quite remarkable though. Cheers, Guido
The 3d class section on the San Antonio ridge is not bad at all. It's more exposure than you see on a lot of 3d class and you have to be careful with San Gabriel loose rock, but you'll do fine as long as you've had some 3d class experience.
I've done many 3rd class in the Alps many years ago. As I said it was tempting looking and since I know me I will be on that ridge one day. But thanks for the encouragement.
Hey, welcome. It's nice to see you here on SP. I totally agree. That day I wished so many times to be carried down the mountain in one way or another. By the way, congrats to C2C.
Yeah, going down is pretty hard when your legs and many other body parts are screaming, "Take me home! Make it stop!" and you say "I'm trying! You have to work in order to go home though!"
It is very nice to have a friend there to talk to the whole way, gets rid of some of the pain.
