Route Climbed: Chalone Peak Trail Date Climbed: 12 October 2003
Followed the butterfly plan from Bear Gulch Visitor Center via the Moses Spring Trail to the Reservoir and then down the Chalone Peak Trail. Lookout tower looked in good repair this time and was some good shade for lunch. After lunch, off to South Chalone...
Route Climbed: Direct from Bear Gulch Trail Head. Date Climbed: Dec. 22, 2002
After a week of storms and only one outing since the start of the school year, I had to get out. Decided to head to Pinnacles instead of the Sierras to avoid the crowds. What a good choice. Temp. in the upper 40s - lower 50s and only a few clouds in the sky by the time I reached the summit. Didn't see a soul except for the ranger at the entrance kiosk until I arrived back at the reservoir. The trail is very pleasant with ever changing views from the High Peaks of the Pinnacles to the north, San Benito Mountains to the west, to the Salinas Valley and Coast Range to the west. A great day!!!
Route Climbed: Bear Gultch Visitor Center via the Moses Spring Trail to the Chalone Peak Trail and back Date Climbed: November 16th, 2002
It was the best day in the world for this hike. The temperature was about 60 and the sun was shining brightly. The sky was blue and the trail was empty. The trail was very well maintained, however the lookout tower appeared to be under repair. They seem to be installing a few antennas, weather station, solar panels, and the such. The last part of the trail was on the fire road, and very steap.
