Re: Imagine...I had another look at the map to determine the actual gradient. The top part of the glacier, most of which is visible here, gains 500 m elevation over a horizontal distance of just under 600 m, giving an average gradient of 41°. Some sections will surely be a little steeper, but, judging from your photo, not by all that much.
Even knowing the gradient, I still don't want to descend there on skis, and definitely not when it's icy. I'm not that good a skier!
