Northwest View from Summit Mound

Lewis and Clark saw this view without the farms or the trees. This picture gives a nice sense of how much Spirit Mound stand out above the South Dakota prairie, though it has less than 100 feet of prominence. The benches are there for your convenience after the strenuous climb. I don't think they were there when Lewis and Clark came through. October 2008.
