After a debate here, I called the Geological Institute of Sweden, asking them what the correct name of the mountain range was in English. That was the answer. In Swedish it's Skanderna, and I called it that first, but there were protests from a Norwegian. It's a border mountain chain, and we have different names on it. The chain actually continues under the sea and continues in Scotland.

I believe the word itself is derived from the same base as "Scandinavia".
