WTF?Huh? I've been up the Cone oh.. a lot and I've never seen this. Is this on the main massif?

Check out the Trail Illustrated map (#100) for the area if you've got it. The mine is marked, on the northwest side of the mountain, in a small gully. I kid you not. Old shack, mining equipment, etc.
Check it out next time you're there!

Re: WTF?Have you seen the old homestead, down in the gully, almost due west of the summit (but below the old road)? Cool old building. Rumor has it that there is another old homestead on the NE corner of the JCOS property, but I haven't found that one.

Nope, we didn't get down that way. Bushwacking through dry, late-September grass was just painful: Burrs, seeds, stickers, etc. We were just happy to get back up on the trail by that point. ;)
