Olympus Mons

Olympus Mons

This photo is of Olympus Mons, the largest known volcano in the solar system. It is on Mars, and is roughly the size of the state of Arizona. It is a shield volcano, like Mauna Loa, Hawai'i; they're characterized by gently sloping sides and grand scale.

yes!

it really is man! I couldn't believe it. My friend taking "global tectonics" showed it to me. he also played wavs of intensely acoustic noises coming from within the earth. I've yet to take the class but am looking forward to it. I'll mention that I hit Grand Teton National Park with mom on the way home from school. The vertical relief was tremendous. Splendid mountains!
