Orizaba's shadow...

[ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Orizaba\'s shadow...
is very prominent at sunrise from the summit. The snow pinnacles seen were found all over the place and are formed by the wind. Looking closely you can see Popo and Izta - March 2012

I have been at the summit of Box Elder when the mountain throws a shadow like that over a valley. I always wondered if someone standing near the peak of the shadow could see my shadow...probly not but that would be really cool.

That looks MUCH higher than a Cascade Volcano.
Thanks for the shot!

Although it is much higher than a cascade volcano, the vertical relief from the summit to the plains below is about the same as the vertical relief Mount Rainier has to the hills below it which is ~ 11,000 feet

Which you definitely did with this shot. You could almost tag this as the "one in a million" shot. This is one of the neatest, coolest pics I've seen in a long time. I remember a very similar scene as I climbed it as well but not nearly as pronounced. Thanks for sharing!
