Our route on Henkel

[ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Our route on Henkel
Route up in red, down in yellow. Our ascent route is a little different from the one that most people take, but it was a fun variation with more ridge scrambling. No harder than class 3, with maybe a few class 4 spots if care is not taken. After gaining the large black pyramid (the darkest section most of the way up on our ascent ridge) that we ascended diagonally to the left, it is best to traverse right (to the SE slope from the SW slope). The SE slope is pleasant class 2/3 while the SW slope has a lot of disgusting steep scree. From there, gain the gentle SW ridge and hike to the summit.
