Aiguille Du Midi to Rifugio Torino, How Long Will It Take?

by WouterB » Thu Aug 25, 2011 6:56 pm

Considering going from the Aiguille Du Midi to the Torino hut on Saturday evening, to climb the Dent Du Geant on Sunday. Can anyone tell me how long it would take me and how difficult this route would be? Thanks!

Thanks for the reply borutbk, I already found those pages, but didn't find an answer to my question on them. I can see that the distance is about 6KM on my map and I can also see that the height lines don't look too steep, but I'd rather not base myself entirely on that and get an answer from someone with first hand experience.

normally there's a big track digged into the snow, some crevasses in the part between the Pyramide and the Tour Ronde, if the weather is fine it takes at least 5 hours (many stops required for photos) :D
careful to all that can come down from Tacul-Diable

3-5h depending on how much of a hurry you are.
its very moderete and no route finding needed there is a foot stamp trail all the way through.

you know there is also a cable car that goes all the way from midi to tourino and the sights prety incredibaleon a nice day.
(took the cable car so we could spot a line on tacul very helfull that way.

Wouter, assuming you are with another climber, it will take you between 2-4 hrs to reach the Torino hut from the Midi tram.
For reservations (recommended) the number for the hut is +39(0)165 844 034 CAI Italian Alpine Club Hut
Enjoy Francis
