Damavand

by mrsmith » Fri Jan 12, 2007 4:18 pm

Does anyone know any current good local contacts for climbing Damavand in Iran? Looking to be over in Iran in early July this year and looking for a local guide who would climb the mountain and others surrounding the massif over the course of a week.

Most stuff on the web (that I've found) appears a bit outdated. If anyone else is planning to be in Iran at this time and climbing the mountain drop me a line!

May want to contact Araz Adventure Tours. I have been working with them for the past 3 years and have been satisfied.

Have not climbed Damavand itself but have done many of the lesser known 4000 m peaks of the area.

Yeah, Reineh there are guides. Don't bother with all these expensive companies. Quite easy to climb without a guide though.

there are many non profit climbing groups that climb just for fun and not for money. you can join one of them in order to avoid solo or paying expensive cost ...
