Not many people seem to use it anymore. Posting get in the forum is usually better.

The biggest issue is the lack of integration into the site. If it had notifications and such I think it would be used a lot more. Hardly anyone wants to manually check to see interested people, especially if it requires looking often for no replies.

I've found it quite useful when I went to Peru. Ended up climbing with several people that I got in contact with thru P&P.
