First time mountaineering - Mont Blanc 3 days?

by marving » Fri Jul 25, 2014 2:40 pm

I've never done any mountaineering but have a lot of experience rock climbing and backcountry skiing, and ice climbed a few times. I'm going to be in Chamonix for a few days at the end of the summer and was wondering how realistic it would be to find a guide for Mont Blanc, but in 3 days not the typical 5-7 tourist itinerary? The gouter route seems the safest (no falling seracs), and this itinerary would have us in the grand couloir in the morning when rock fall is least likely:

1: Morning - work on crampon, ice axe, and rope technique. Afternoon - hike up to Tete Rousse hut for the night
2: Summit Mont Blanc, descend to Gouter hut for the night
3: Descend to Chamonix, back by noon

Do you think any guide would do this? From my perspective it seems like a technically easy climb, and if I'm hiring a private guide they can pull the plug anytime since there's no other clients if they feel my abilities are somehow insufficient. Thoughts?
