Hey,

Does anyone know of any climbing routes on Granite, Middle, Echo or Siligo Peaks in the Trinity Alps.

I'm looking for easy alpine type climbs up to 5.7.

Looks like a lot of possibilities up there for peak bagging or just craggin. Thinkin' of bringing a rope and gear on a backpack trip up there.

Also, any info on Ycatopom Peak climbing routes? Orion 5.7. ??

The rock quality is iffy on Middle and Echo and in my experience, Granite does not have much of a wall to climb.

Siligo may have some good possibilities on its northeast flank. If you are looking for good stuff away from the Canyon Creek area, check out Gibson, particularly the Dolomite Ridge and Monument Peak, specifically above Upper Rush Creek Lake.

Bubba, is your picture of echo peaks taken from the stony ridge trail, west of echo peaks?

maybe a ridge climb in there, but a lot of nice looking rock to play on.

Yes, that shot was taken from the Stoney Ridge Trail, at the north end of Van Matre Meadows, near the outlet of Echo Lake. They are best climbed from the Echo Lake basin, where you can scramble up the steep east wall above the lake. Another good option is this peak:

It is just to the north of the Echo Peaks. There are a couple of really cool lakes on the east side of this and the Echo's which don't have any trails leading to them.

super fun bouldering at Echo Lake. unfortunately didn't do the lakes loop or check out Siligo. we had a change in plans.

I didn't bring climbing gear but there appears to be maybe a little potential for adventure climbing out there. The peridotite (sp?)/serpentine rock is very cool looking and fun to climb on.

Did you go in Longs Canyon or up the Stoney Ridge Trail?

we did stony ridge. what a great trail and views.

we went back in one more night into boulder lake and did a day hike loop around thumb rock/lilypad lake. more great granite boulders on Thumb rock. The north face of Ycatapom sure looks like an adventure climb. need to go back.

The red trinities sure are different as you get all these great views, esp. into the sawtooth's.

Totally agree D! You definitely need to do the Lakes loop. I need to get back up there and hit Thompson/Wedding Cake and Hilton from Papoose Lake. Hope all is well.

That is one of my favorite hikes in the Trinities. You ought to check the Ycat page for more Beta on climbing the peak.

Boy, now I'm jonesin' a bit for the Trinities!

We are heading in for four days the first weekend of October. Can't wait!

or Sawtooth peak from stuart fork!! that looks like a doozy of an hike. I still need to get to Paposse and Sapphire Lakes.

Up drainage from Ycat peak is a fairly large buttress that has potential climbing and there is some stuff on Tapie Peak that looks climbable.
