Kings Canyon Memorial Day Weekend

by JDLP » Wed May 25, 2016 4:43 am

Hey everyone! So, I got a wilderness permit for Lewis Creek in Kings Canyon for Saturday and Sunday Memorial Day weekend, but I'm a little nervous about crossing the creeks en route to Frypan Meadow, given the time of year, and that I'm backpacking alone and still a bit of a novice. Has anyone been out there recently and knows what the crossings are like? Or been on the Deer Cove Trail as a possible alternative? If it's going to be impassable, kicking around the idea of doing Telescope Peak/the Panamints in Death Valley instead.

Thank you!

Jonathan

We did it early season, (but drought year), and it wasn't an issue. I wouldn't let it stop me. Climb Mt. Harrington, it's a great short class 2-3.
