So sorry to write this:

German climbing pioneer Kurt Albert passed away in hospital yesterday evening due to the serious injuries he suffered from a fall off a popular and easy fia ferrata here in Frankenjura while guiding a group.
Kurt first ascended and partly free soloed a lot of the famous routes here. He invented the idea of "redpoint", climbed in Patagonia, the Karakorum, Baffin Island, the Antarctica and other far away places. He was a great climber and a most inspiring personality.

We will miss him!

He was a Legend and Inspiration to many.

He is now with his Best Friend Wolfgang, climbing the infinite Big Walls out there somewhere.

So sad to hear this news. Kurt Albert was one of the very few who, by their example kept the climbing world aware of what clean climbing, aid-free climbing and ethical climbing was and is. He was, and is a shining example for all of us to try to emulate.
