I am not sure. It may or may not be a troll. For example I posted a question about recommended jacket for Mt. Diablo hike. It was not a troll.fatdad wrote:Not sure if this is a troll since the question is so naive.
In case you are fit enough you have a chance of reaching Mt. Dana summit without an overnight acclimatization. Personally I would not do it, because I prefer/need to spend the first night in a motel or campground before a hike.dshankar wrote:I would arrive by 6am. I figured I would acclimatize over breakfast and a nap for a few hours at the base, before starting the hike at 9am. Should take me 3 hours to summit if the weather is good.
You have a better chance of reaching a summit in case you hike slower. The likelihood of getting an altitude sickness depends on the altitude and the level of your physical activities. The slower you go – the less chance of getting an altitude sickness at the same elevation.dshankar wrote:Should take me 3 hours to summit if the weather is good.
These few hours would not count. Start right away and go up there.dshankar wrote:I could leave early and arrive at the base by 2am and sleep until 8am to acclimatize.
Have I already mentioned that you need to move slowly? Let’s assume that you have 5 hours and plan spending 2 hours resting and 3 hours going up. Instead I recommend going up right away and spending 5 hours on the hike up there. In this case you have a better chance of succeeding.
