Fall in the Sierra

by EManBevHills » Fri Oct 13, 2006 5:08 am

I hope I'm not being redundant, but I don't recall seeing a Fall Colors thread for the Sierra.
So, I offer one up.

Here was a wonderful way to start my Birthday 2 weeks ago:

Yeah, I've never seen it this good. Here's a good shot on the way up to the Palisades, also from two weeks ago. http://www.summitpost.org/image/234801/ ... roach.html

Autumn is my favorite season. With kids in school, work and other family obligations in general, it is not practicable for me to backpack this time of year. In hopefully the not too distant future, I will have the extra time to make some fall trips. Down here in San Diego, fall color is very subtle, but you can still feel the change in the air.

It would also be a nice time of year to visit my brother where he lives near Ketchum: http://www.sunset.com/sunset/travel/art ... 40,00.html

Very nice. I am going to be up there again this weekend. I guess I should bring the big camera and spend some time taking photos.

The summer is almost over.

Here's a site with links to various USDA Forest Service fall color reports:

And to think I have been waiting to for Fall colors! Looks like I'll be taking the family up Bishop sooner than expected! Thanks for the shots!

Yeah, and the bears are becoming quite active. Had a close encounter with a big fat boy near Bench Lake on Saturday.
