My partner Danielle and I will be in the Cordon del Plata Range in early February, climbing and acclimatizing. The information we've found on this site is great. However, if anyone has recent details on costs for lodging, meals and (we hope HOT) showers at Vallecitos Ski resort and/or the campgrounds in the valley, please pass them along. Also, the names and phone numbers of persons we could contact there from Mendoza, or from here in the USA, to arrange reservations and transport between Mendoza, Vallecitos and Aconcagua, would be helpful. In fact, we would appreciate any fresh data. One of us is nervous and needs to plan for everything. In spite of this, and the recent sad news from Aconcagua, we are still looking forward to our trip. We promise a report upon our return. Thanks!

I think all the local outfitters in Mendoza will arrange transportation ec.

There are lots of refugios in Vallecitos. My preferences go to San Bernardo and San Antonio (see websites for reservations). Both have hot showers and San Antonio offers transfers (count on 60-100 pesos from Mendoza to the refugio) even if you don't stay at the refugio. Camping above the ski resort is free but there is no infrastructure (no hot showers!).

You can always contact an outfitter in Mendoza and they will organize everything A-Z (including transporting your pack etc. up to the base camp of Cerro Plata) but that will be a lot less fun than trawling your tent and gear up the "infernillo" to the camp!!
