History of SummitPost?

by vanja2 » Sun Jan 10, 2010 5:13 pm

Hello everybody!

I haven't been writing here yet, but I'm looking from time to time this site for several years ... and, beside hiking, I'm also writing articles for Croatian hiking magazine "Hrvatski planinar" ("Croatian hiker"), magazine with 101 year's history.
(see http://www.plsavez.hr/hr/Hrvatski_plani ... edirect=HP)

Well, now I would like to write something about representation of Croatian mountains on SP and contributions of Croatian hikers to articles about Croatian and other mountains on SP. Beside that, I would like to know a little bit about history of this site - it is not well known in Croatia (at least, not as it should be ;o) ), so I would like to give to the readers some general information about SP.

So, please, share with me interesting things about past and present of SP - thank you in advance!

Best regards,
VANJA

[quote="truchas"]Well another chapter ends today and has ended in the last couple of days. goldenhopper and 2_climbaxes have been deleted, 2_climbaxes being today. So long fellas, we enjoyed you guys while you were here. You'll be missed.[/quote

"Deleted?" by that do you mean, opting out?

Bok Vanja, dobrodosao!
You're gonna find some Croatian and ex-YU SP-ers here. Some of them like Sasha (Velebit) or Gord (Dinaric-ZG) pop in only once in a long while these days, some others more often. Try to get in touch with them.
Pozdrav i sretna nova!
Kamil

Meaning their accounts have been deleted/removed/gone. They and their contributions no long exist on SP. Essentially in SP terms, they have passed away. R.I.P.

That's a pretty interesting way of putting it...If I remember correctly, at least one of them requested his account be deleted...

What exactly, are you insinuating trouchas?

So is the misspelling of my avatar an attempt at an insult since it was formally used as that in the former PnP forum? If so, I think you know that insults are not allowed in this forum. Please refrain so the elves don't have any more work than necessary.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

In case anyone is wondering what I am saying, these people he mentions above did not "get deleted" as insinuated, they actually left SummitPost and requested their account be deleted...big difference from the false picture painted above which was obviously formulated to make the administration of SP appear to be delete happy or something...

look no typos this time, now what ATTM?

Guys, P and P is gone. I know you two don't have a history of getting along, but let's not go looking for problems where none exist because I can see where this is going.
