Early Enchantments

by b. » Sat May 22, 2010 6:16 pm

Anyone know what the snow cover looks like in the Enchantments right now? How far in before you hit full snow? Solid enough to travel on or iso mush? Thinking about an early foray, just backpacking, from the Leavenworth side next weekend. I can handle snow, just wondering how many miles of full snow travel are involved to get into the basins. Thanks!

I was up there on the 13th to climb Colchuck from the Stuart Lake trail head. We were able to get within 300 yards of the trail head and the trail itself was partially covered for the first half mile or so and was mostly to completely covered after that.
