Does your wife hate SummitPost?

by Bob Sihler » Sat Sep 25, 2010 4:07 am

Wife, husband, boyfriend, girlfriend?

My wife hates SP almost as much as she hates another attractive woman so much as speaking to me about the weather. She has half-jokingly said that she is going to join the site to start a support group for wives of SPers.

This after giving her three children. :evil: And I cook dinner every night. Do the dishes most of the time, too. Sometimes I even get behind the wheel of the minivan.

So do you feel the scorn, too?

Let's have a little fun here. :wink:
"Alcohol is like love. The first kiss is magic, the second is intimate, the third is routine. After that you take the girl's clothes off."

My wife "threatened" to leave me several times, saying I was always "gawking endlessly" into the
computer's screen :

:geek:

"My life's in jeopardy;
Murdered in cold blood is what I'm gonna be..
I ain't been home since Friday night,
And now my wife is coming after me..

Give me police protection,
Gonna buy a gun so
I can look after number one.
Give me a bodyguard;
A black belt Judo expert with a machine gun.

Gonna buy a tank and an aeroplane,
When she catches up with me;
Won't be no time to explain ..."

Not one bit!

She can't believe some of the shit she reads from some on this site.

Her laughs are many....

BearQueen like SP because of how SP has motivated me to pursue my goals and dreams in mountaineer. She also loves the support she received in her trip report she wrote in November and hopes to write and hike many more trip reports and articles as soon as she has recovered from her ongoing illness.

Bob, I've got to join the club :) My wife finds it useless crap, just like mountains and climbing are not her element...

Excerpts from the Article “A Petition to Outlaw SummitPorn - In the words of the great Bob Sihler,“At home, you try to visit SP only when your spouse isn’t looking (hence the term SummitPorn), and when he or she catches you, you get that look just like the one the dog does after it pees on the couch and gets scolded for it.”

So the battle begins. Why are you on that stupid SummitPorn (note my spouse uses that phrase—she loved Bob’s article) when you could be doing the things I asked you? My reply: Uh, I duuno?

She: “There ought to be a law against that stupid site. You are always on it and you get nothing done.” Me: “I will go for a climb or a hike then.”

Fat chance buddy. You are in the hot seat and you aint getting off it that easy.

Meanwhile, did you know you can access SummitPost on your PDA phone like your Blackberry, Palm or iPhone?

Bow chica chica bow bow—what? Dang it, someone is coming—hurry, stuff it under the bed like the naughty book that it is. Oh, Hi Honey. She: “Oh don’t hi Honey me, you look guilty. Seriously? You have SP up on your Blackberry? I think its time we go find some professional help.

Hate would be a little too strong, but there are times when she gets very annoyed particularly when I'm either researching extensively for an upcoming trip, or posting after the trip as the volume of time on SP goes up pretty dramatically.

But she can't hate it too much since I hear her tell people over the phone, chuckling when she does, "Oh, he's just dicking around on SummitPorn."

Well I am a wife and the only one of the 2 of us with an SP account, so I definitely don't hate it. My husband leaves any trip research up to me so he can't mind a place where I get info from to much. Though I'm rarely on it when he's here anyway since he dominates computer usage usually. But if I was on it alot when he was home I'ld be getting those wife looks since I'ld be blocking him from doing whatever he wanted to do with the computer!!

No, she doesn't hate it, but I'm sure she thinks it's a little weird that I spend as much time as I do on it. I just tell her it's my "Facebook"!

Pretty funny! I always say a perfect weekened would involve going climbing one day, then to a quilt show the next day.

I am in the same situation with NW. I am a wife and the only one in our family with an SP account. DH doesn't hate SP, doesn't mind the time I spend here and hasn't even checked out what I have posted there.
