Changes in Half Dome hiking permits

After hearings and yadda yadda, you'll now need a permit every day of the week for the Cables route:

They're free but will cost you $1.50 each.

Agree with Bubba Suess. Yosemite NPS is not the best.

Gawd! Glad my son and I did it last summer, on a superb Sierra day in August. Great experience, but, ridiculous to have a permit every day of the week. Anyone know, did they have a ranger at the bottom checking permits?
