Looking for a new mountain camcorder.. need some help here.

by Pyroman9 » Sat Dec 25, 2010 3:47 pm

Howdy,
I am looking for a compact, durable, good quality video camera. I am not to worried about price, but I want to take good video. I have a durable camera to take pics with and a SLR camera for the fancy stuff. But I want to get something that takes good video and has plenty of space. digital cameras do not tend to take the best of videos and have less zoom. So what do you all use? opinions? reviews?

Climb on!
Eric

+ MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

What about dSLR cameras like the Canon Eos 60D, 5DII or Nikon d7000 etc. Take HD video and you can zooom your heart out with the right lens.

problem is that they are big, bulky, and do not work great in cold, high altitude weather. They get really picky. I want something smaller that I can carry, but possibly also mount.

Shane that is a very nice looking helmet cam. appears to get great reviews, and I have seen it all over the place.

definately a few batteries. worked great on aconcagua.

I think the helmet cam is what I am looking for. Then i will have my nikon D60 for all the great shots when I can afford to whip it out.

In addition to shooting 1080p video, it also takes still photos every minute.

This video was shot entirely with it:

OMG! This thing is unfreakingbelievable. I wish I had seen this before Christmas. It is hard to believe how much digital video has advanced; quality was amazing. I have got to get one. Thanks for the heads up.
