NOPE. I mowed the lawn (first time this year.... I found monkeys and a previously undiscovered species of tree frog) today, and will be pulling weeds with the kids tomorrow. It's cool.. I don't like to climb on weekends anyway.

Went up Old Chute on Hood last Saturday. Clear out, but pretty windy. Overall, nice trip.

Wish so badly I'd gone... I'd climbed the previous weekend, though, and the wife'd made me promise I'd watch the kids so she could go out.

I hate kids.

Well, I spent the last three days on a local training hike I've been working on. I need to GPS the first leg, but its about 2-2.5 mile and about 1000-1200' vertical gain.

Also, had a job interview with REI on Saturday. Out of work student, I need to be able to afford gear somehow...... Actually looking forward to getting back to work if I get the job.

Nothing, again, this weekend. Wanted to climb Friday night, but I'm transitioning the littlest one to the big-boy room, and they don't behave half as well for mom as they do for me..

But I'm going tomorrow night, hell or high water. Reid Headwall- long version.. no pussing out on the WCR. Unless this new employer wants me to come in Tuesday to finalize salary negotiations.... and since that's the only thing that could possibly screw this climb up, I'm sure it'll happen.

At least I'll be gainfully employed once again- so worth it.

I skinned up the South Side of Hoodie up to crater rock. The snow on the way down was HORRIBLE!!! I should have known better with this warm weather, but I had delusions of corn on the mind, and well, was disappointed. Should have stayed home and drank beer in the sun instead.

I'm in Europe but posting it here because I had a *very* PNW morning yesterday! A friend bought a new snowboard and wanted to try it out before the snow is all gone. He picked a destination that surprised me...very low elevation, required some road walking...overall it seemed dubious. But okay, saddle up!

Plus it was raining. Hard. All day. We got to the road and got the car stuck in the snow. Later we got it out and walked. I had skis, he had snowshoes. Eventually the patches of snow dried up and we just pounded the pavement. Soaking wet, on a "Mountain Loop Highway" style road, I thought "wow, this is just like Washington State!" Finally we tried a different route in the fog, just to get away from roads. But then we lost the trail under snow and cliffs, and after some mucking around in the brambles I could almost *see* the Slide Alder. Takes me back...

The day ended when we found a 50 meter high erosion slope on the side of the road with enough snow on it to let him de-virginize his new snowboard and make a few turns. Finally we had some smiles going in the sopping wet snow and drenched gear. Back to the car...

It's good to visit Washington every now and then! :D
