Using two different brand/model of Ice tools

by subhrojyoti » Tue Jan 15, 2013 2:30 am

I used to have a pair of Simond Naja but the one with Adze got stolen. What would be the best option?

1. Buy another similar Ice tool with an Adze? If yes, then which brand/model?
2. Sell the Naja (with Hammer) and buy a new pair of Ice Tools

TIA

It depends what you want to use it for. It is better to have the same ice tools, especially when switching the hands etc. It may be a little bit confusing to use 2 different ones.
I climb short technical routes with 2 hammer type tools, e.g. in the ice park (most guides used the same system) - mine are black diamond vipers, and I have another set of tools for technical alpine climbing - one adze and one hammer, and a handlebar which can be used as ax if needed - similar to your naja tool.
Sorry to hear that someone took your tool - bad karma to the thief...
