Darton Peak

by WyomingSummits » Mon Sep 02, 2013 5:45 am

Another failed summit attempt on Darton Peak in the Bighorns yesterday. It's 16 miles RT with 3,400ft of gain. My partner just couldn't make it, and I'm not the type to leave someone sitting somewhere while I climb. So.....looks like I'll just have to go back....such a bummer. ;) We did 13 RT in a little over 5 hours, and that was with multiple breaks, so we weren't pushing that hard, he just wasn't used to that type of physical activity although he was in great strength shape. Eh, I hope he didn't get too scared off, people willing to do this crap are hard to find. :)

Haven't gotten into technical ice yet, although I've run into it in early season in the Bighorns. Been technical rock climbing for 26yrs and do general mountaineering routes on snow and ice.....but nothing past 60 degrees on ice. No reason, just haven't gotten around to it and haven't run into many people into tech ice yet.
