Summit Lookout on Mt Adams

by Murph1 » Thu Sep 24, 2015 2:49 am

Have not been to the summit of Mt Adams in years and am interested in knowing if
the old Summit Lookout is still visible. :?: In the 1960's the building was
partially exposed. I remember sitting on the roof. The front of the
building was exposed but the inside was filled with snow. In the1980's
it was covered. Wondering if the warming trend in temps and the
change in snowfall patterns has exposed the building again.

Thanks for the picture of the old lookout. :) I would say the amount
of snowpack on Mt Adams has seen significant decline over the past
fifty years. :( At most I was expecting to see maybe part of the cupola
showing. The last time I was on the summit in August during the
80's there was nothing but snow and ice anywhere around the
summit itself.

I was up there in August of.... 12? 13? Was completely buried... no sign of it at all. I think one high or low snow season is really all it takes.
where am i going... and why am i in this handbasket?
