Rock Climbing/Scrambling Gloves

by WalksWithBlackflies » Fri Jun 14, 2013 4:00 pm

I swear I posted this before, and someone provided an excellent response, but can't find the thread. Anywho, the rock I climb on (Adks), contains tiny crystals that do an amazing job of tearing apart fingertips. I'm looking for suggestions for gloves that I can wear on easy pitches that won't fall off/slip. Some kind of stretchy glove with a durable finish. Thanks.

Out here, where people scramble a lot on rough siliceous limestone and on sandstone, they buy the really cheap gardening gloves with rubberized fingers and palms, and mesh (string) backs. You can often get them for $1/pair, when sold in multi-packs. They range by a factor of 10x in price, but all work about the same. The facing is a very bumpy rubber (looks like terry cloth) that sticks to rock. They get sweaty in hot weather, and are cold in cold weather, but protect the fingers and actually enhance holds.
