North side of Tahquitz- UPDATE-Looks better today, a bit less frozen snow. We scrambled up the NE Rib being extremely careful not to slip on ice, there is still some of it on the rock. The South side is sunny, warm and climbable. Descent from Lunch Rock has a bit of hard snow here and there,nothing bad or major.

About an inch or two of snow on the ground in Idyllwild this morning. It is snowing quite a bit right now. I can hear snow plows on the highway. The ridges on Tahquitz Peak above us look really nice, a glimpse of winter?

As I was coming over the Cajon Pass this morning, what I could see of the mountains looked pretty snowy.

Woke up this morking to the first snow of the season on San Gorgonio! ~4" and we couldnt try for the summit, we had to leave a day earlier then expected!

But still San G wilderness is beautiful in winter!

In Idy for the tree lighting ceremony tonite and got snowed on pretty good. It was fantastic! :lol:

6 to 9 inches up in Big Bear, so there must be a foot of snow on San Gorgonio.

a few minutes before the tree lighting ceremony, i snapped this shot. not a bad window view... i then quickly finished a fine ale and took the twins to see santa!

It was beautiful up on San Jacinto yesterday.

Hiked to the peak via Round Valley from the tram. There was only about 2 to 3 inches and a well trampled trail.

Dang, must've missed you X Baby! Deb and I went to Iddy yesterday for the XMAS Tree lighting. Was hoping to see Alois and Pen there too but never spotted them. As you know, it started to snow pretty good around 3PM. We also went to the museum to see the new climbing exhibit. Nicely done! Saw photos of Kris, Alois and Clark mixed in with the display. There was a composition notebook that was set to the side but no one had made remarks in it yet. I marked on the front of it 'A Climbers' Thoughts' and made the first entry, hoping others will follow.

Still can't believe you snagged that house next to Jeff Salz's house. Yesterday was our countdown to be imbedded denizens of Iddy......5 years or less!! Hmmmm....shall i work for True Value part time or kick Jeff out of Nomad?? Choices, choices. :wink:

Register Ridge is sheltered, so it wasn't real windy until I got onto the Devil's Backbone Trail at the saddle between Baldy and Harwood. It was really windy at the saddle and a couple coming down told me it was a lot worse on top of Baldy, so I turned around and headed down without going all the way to the top of Baldy.
