I personally haven't had such good luck with clip ons but so far have had great luck with Julbo Micropores which I had fitted with prescription lenses made by Oakley. The frames are sturdy and the Oakley lenses have reflective coatings, are dark enough for glacier use, and are polarized. The only thing I don't like about them are the leather side shields (unfortunately, my prescription is too strong for wrap arounds), but when the last pair broke Julbo sent me another pair for free. I've thought about Lasik but like my vision too much to take a chance with it. Can never really get used to contacts either.

Same here on both.

Told them to give it a shot and grind the lenses down to fit the new frame. Wish me luck :?

I have bought several pairs of glasses online from Zenni Optical. I wear progressive lenses and I have also ordered the photochromic version. You can order a solid tint rather than photochromic. These glasses are great, and cheap. Perhaps not quite dark enough for true glacier glasses, but 80% tint is fine for general alpine with some glacier use.

Glory Hallelujah!! They could adjust my lenses to the new frame without breaking anything. I guess my problem is delayed for now :D

I have massive coke bottle prescription, and I found that Adidas makes a sunglasses called "evil eye" that accepts a prescription "insert".

This is what I use, and they also sell a variety of lenses, so you can choose between clear all the way to "space" the darkest they make. Not too expensive either.

That looks pretty good! I really didn't think they could 'bend' high prescription glasses that much though??

As a result of being a cheap SOB, I bought goggles that fit over my glasses.

I just wear fit-over sunglasses (Cocoons) over my Prescription eyeglasses. My glasses have transition lenses and are progressive (like bifocals without the line). Sure, I look like a dork but it's worked for me for years whether on snow and glaciers, or cycling. That way, when it gets dark (like at night), I can take off the sunglasses and still see because I am still wearing my eyeglasses.

I've actually done that before too but they didn't fit too well. I might pick up a pair that do fit for those great mountain hikes in the middle of a storm; ah, so much fun :-))
