the Chief would not approve of your question, especially if you are a local.

Vic, flee back to Mountain Project while there is still time. p.s. Ask Kevin after the 20th.

Or come over to the Moose Lodge around the same time. I'll make cookies...

cookies and Reel film?! you going L?

Parker Canyon usually forms around the same time Whitney Icefall does. One can check Parker Canyon out from the 395 with binoculars. The approach is much more miserable though.

Pussy.

If the Whitney Falls aren't in (which might be a possibility, since it's been so bloody warm lately), then hellz yeah I wanna go to the film!

Looking like I may be stuck ("stuck"???) in B-town this weekend, so I'll hoof up the MR and check out conditions myself on either Saturday or Sunday. Hmmm... maybe a day of practicing some 5-easy stuff in the A-hills...

The man is not kidding. We had a nightmare last time and blew all the climbing time on the approach. I wanted to cry

No doubt. Plenty of that fun stuff around here.

Darija would not approve of your statement Vitaliy. Socializing is a weakness and therefore, a hindrance to being hardcore. I suggest you change your greeting to: Will be fucking rad to see you bitches flail on 5-easy while I flash mad hard shit.

It would be cool to invite the Chief down for a fun day in the A-Hills. He can show us all the cool routes that only locals know and not in any guidebook.

Is the Whitney ice fall the one that is at around 10,000 ft just below Thor Lake? If so, it was looking great last weekend (Nov 6-7). In fact, there was quite a bit of ice on the slabs just below Upper Boy Scout Lake - crampons required.

Which is, of course, why you chime in right about now...

Whitney Ice Falls, along the Mountaineer's Route (ok, trail which it is at this point). The outlet cascade from Thor/Girl Scout/Frog Pond/Dave's Lake between Lower and Upper Boy Scout Lake.

You know, where climbing magic happens...

What is this?!?!?!

A SIN I tell ya, toperoping on tracked up ice next to untouched PLASTIC!!

Okay, so I can't say for sure that it's plastic...

But still!!!

I about had a heart attack when I saw the picture.

Anyways,
Last year was a great ice year just about everywhere (I swear the power plant beezies at Lee Vining choked a little too much water away from the BH Wall through that hidden pipe that feeds LVC  )!
I'm crazy excited to see more of that glorious nimbus blue stuff this year!

PS,
You're not the only one that thought this post was about the Shasta Glacier, 1000 Peak. I just had the good fortune to identify the context of the topic before opening my lid.
