Date Climbed: Nov 1, 2008
Started at the blue ridge road, approached from the N. Made it to 8,800' when a downpour soaked us. Winds 50+ combined with soaking rain resulted in a turnaround around 9,000'. Couldn't see more than 10' anyway.

Been up several times and several trails/routes, the last time up (2005?) was compliments of a Huey on a SAR mission and flown off when two SAR people were injured in a fall. Cause? Slipped on the ice. Be careful when on snow or ice and make sure you have good ace & crampon skills.

Had to check out the freak September snow we had in the local mountains. Hiked the Acorn Trail from Wrightwood up to Blue Ridge then on to the summit of Pine. 4-6 inches of snow on the summit. Fun day.

Route Climbed: Acorn Trail - North Ridge Date Climbed: May 17 2003

Started in Wrightwood at 6:30 AM with friends Dan and Toby. We hiked up the Acorn Trail to Blue Ridge road and then over to the North Ridge of Pine Mt. Made the summit by 10:05 AM. After about an hour, a snack on top and some photos I headed down. Back to my car before 12:30 and home by 1:00 PM. Nice morning hike. Toby replaced the summit register with a new book as the others are full.

Second time on Pine. Also continued to Dawson Peak. Baldy looked tempting but I had people waiting for me on Pine. Nice day; high 60s.

started at the elementary school on highway 2 at 8:05 am, hiked the pave road to the trailhead and continued up the acorn trail (ate lunch about 1.5 miles up the trail), took the road to the base of pine mountain and continued up the ridge, took 3 hours from highway 2 to pine just to make the summit, returned the same way. snow was a minor factor in the forested section.

The Backbone and exposed areas all now clear of snow, once in the trees still plenty but easy to navigate around by just heading up to the summit. Views for the day were amazing of Baldy, Baden- Powell and Iron Montain. On the hike back up from the south side saw some of the elusive Nelson Big Horn Sheep from a distance.

It was 32F at the trailhead on Blue Ridge Road when I parked. I thought it would be warmer on Memorial Day weekend! Still, a nice day and a pleasant hike for a Sunday morning. Didn't see anyone else until I was almost back to the car. Nice views of Baden-Powell and Baldy along the way.

Hiked with AlanK & son, Richard, Mike, and Rick Kent. Started in Wrightwood, up Acorn trail, Pine Mt, and Dawson. Returned by same route. A couple of inches of very cold & dry snow covered the whole area.

A relaxing hike with my good friend Mike Ostby since our time in Aconcagua. Beautiful day: sunny, clear, barely any wind.
