Pisco Refuge and Chopicalqui

Pisco Refuge and Chopicalqui

This picture sums up the last few days quite nicely. Right now, we've just come down from Pisco. After a good meal at the refuge, we'll continue down to Cebollapampa from where we'll drive back to civilization. And yesterday, we walked all the way from Chopi high camp (which is located on the ridge, near the right of this photo) to the Pisco refuge! 6 July 2011.

I love this one!

How I would love to spend a night in that hut! It's like Pennine Alps on a higher degree!
Cheers,
Eric

Re: I love this one!

The location is spectacular, surrounded by 6000-ers, but, actually, at just over 4700m, the hut is not even all that much higher than Capanna Margherita.

However, while the service in all the Peruvian huts I visited was quite friendly, it also was very, very slow, and the selection of food was rather limited. So, for climbing, I definitely like the Andes better, but for the hospitality of the huts, I love the Alps!
