Overview

The East ridge is the most popular route to climb Puntal de la Caldera because the Mulhacén is easy to climb after the summit of our peak.

Getting There

Route Description

From Refugio de Poqueira we can take the path of river Mulhacen on the left side. We descent to the small river and we walk following the narrow path on the right side of the river little by little to Laguna de Majano. We reach the lake and Hut of La Caldera and we turn to right side in direction to the col between Puntal de la Caldera (3219m) and Mulhacén (3482m) called collado del Ciervo o de la Mosca (3110m). In the col we turn to left to the Eastern ridge of our peak, After the antecima Este (3188m) we reach the easy rock climb (F) to reach the shoulder of the ridge. We go on the left side of the ridge and we climb some rocky blocks to the summit. The final ridge is a little exposed, it's easy to mountaineers but it can be impressive to hikers or walkers.
