Pycnoporus cinnabarinus is a rare inedible mushroom that can be found on dead deciduous wood in sunny locations.
Pycnoporus means "with compact, dense pores"; cinnabarinus means "bright red". Its color varies from orange to reddish-orange when young and fades with age to whitish.
