Quintessential Adirondack lake

Quintessential Adirondack lake

My Quintessential Adirondack Scene I think this shot is one of the nicest "quintessential" Adirondack scenes you can find. For some viewers it probably has too many man-made structures but it also has the beautiful brown log Adirondack-style boat house, the gazebo, the big American flag pole, the little island, all the greenery with mountains sloping off in the background. And you only have to drive for a couple hours in this part of the Adirondacks to appreciate the fact that while you will see a few places like the scene above along a lake you will also drive for miles and miles through untouched forest and stands of timber, passing only small lakes and cabins. When you visit the Adirondacks, you better be prepared to drive and bring what you need! Taken July 2010 with a Canon XSi camera.

Like a slice of home

I have relatives over by Placid and Saranac and spent a lot of Summers up there. This is a great shot and I think, just short of having smoke coming out of the chimney, it captures the feeling of the Adirondacks perfectly! Great shot!

Re: Like a slice of home

Thank you! I'm glad it hit your 'quintessential spot' too! I really like the Adirondacks and made my husband promise we would come back.
