Rock tripe

2:42 - Rock Tripe...this interesting lichen was found all over on the exposed rocks along the trail. Upon further research ID-ing it I discovered that early explorers used this lichen as a survival food! Good to know...

Didn't realize I hadn't updated this pic...I searched a bit and found this lichen to be known as Rock tripe (Umbilicaria mammulata)...turns out it's edible as a survival food!
