Schalfkogel

Seen from the south east, from the Gurglerferner. The route to the summit over the glacier from the right (that's from the north-east) gets ever steeper near the summit. It's not just ice, a few days ago there has been fresh snow. Instead, tomorrow we would go up to the Schalfkogel Joch, the saddle on the left hand side of the picture, and then to the summit along the south ridge. 10 July 2008.
