Ship Rock, NM is a spectacular site. However, it is prohibited by the Navajo tribe to climb it (indeed, it is considered a sacred place and should not be profaned by climbers). So, look, take pictures, but don't trespass. Imaged in April 2012.

There's been lots of heated discussion about
this sacred rock on Summitpost ..

Was this taken from the Utah side?

Probably. It was shot from a bluff adjacent to Hwy 491, but don't recall if I saw a "Welcome to Utah" sign at any point. --mark d.
